With country patient accommodation options becoming increasingly scarce, and transport costs escalating every day, Open Support is there for regional NSW families, individuals and couples.

We are committed to enabling improved access to health care services by providing affordable accommodation and no-cost transport service options for those travelling to Sydney for medical appointments and hospital stays.

Chisholm Cottage is Open Support’s affordable accommodation service for regional NSW families, couples and individuals travelling to Sydney for medical treatment.
Chisholm Cottage is a safe and comfortable ‘home away from home’ offering quality, affordable and welcoming accommodation for regional NSW families and individuals who need to travel to and stay in Sydney for medical appointments and hospital stays.

Country Care Link is Open Support’s no-cost transport service for regional NSW families, couples and individuals who require transport to and from their arrival/departure point when in Sydney for medical appointments and hospital stays.
The service, operates 7 days-a-week to and from Sydney’s Central and Strathfield rail stations, the main Central bus terminal and Sydney Airport, and passengers’ relevant hospital, health care service, medical treatment facility or accommodation locations.

  • 35% 65-years plus client trips
  • 13% indigenous client trips

 

Chisholm Cottage

in the four months it was open for guests during the year:

  • 129 individuals = 58 families supported.
  • 251 total room nights
  • $20,000 estimated total guest saving in accomodation 12% increase on 2015-16
  • 87,000 km and 3,214 hours driven by volunteer drives.

Chisholm Cottage was acquired by Sisters of Charity Outreach in late 2016, thanks to generosity of Catholic Women’s League, Parramatta. It was closed for over 8 months between October 2016 and June 2017 for a major upgrade, refurbishment and renovation.
