Early this month Karen and Ruth welcomed a team of seven wonderful Suncorp volunteers at The Cottage for our inaugural Corporate Volunteer Program.  

The Suncorp team led by Mim Haysom, Executive General Manager, Brand & Customer Experience were incredibly helpful. They helped in the garden, with cleaning our outdoor areas, wrapping presents for our Christmas in July and, packing bags of self-care items for the clients for when they go to their new homes – a huge help to our team and clients. 

The volunteers heard how our domestic and family abuse (DFA) programs and services work and how they can each be allies to help fight DFA.   Our DFA colleagues shared some very moving stories of clients who have successfully been through the Open Support recovery model programs and services and have transitioned to lives of independence.  

Following the event Mim said:  

‘Thanks so much for having us! The experience really had quite a profound impact on the team so appreciate you and your team making it such a thoughtful and authentic experience for us all.’
