Open Support are excited to announce a fantastic new volunteer role that has just been filled, which strengthens our partnership with the charity, Kids Giving Back.

Kids Giving Back is a not-for-profit organisation that provides volunteering opportunities for children, teens and families across NSW. They are advocates for Service Learning, which they describe as:

“…an effective way to teach children about civic responsibility and create community awareness and engagement. It also helps students develop empathy, resilience, and self-confidence – equipping them with skills to solve real-life problems.”

Kids Giving Back partner with our Community Connections Program by:

  • School students from the Eastern Suburbs volunteer with Kids Giving Back to provide groceries to clients in financial need.
  • Families in eastern Sydney come together at the Big Kitchen to cook fresh nutritious meals which are then delivered to people in need.

The Open Support volunteer “Kids Giving Back Bookings Assistant” reaches out to clients, many of whom look forward to a friendly chat. The volunteer takes food orders and logs them into a shared spreadsheet. Kids Giving Back then arrange for food items to be delivered to people’s homes.

This unique volunteer role was recently filled by one of our donors who was interested in other ways they could help. Please join Open Support team in welcoming the newest member of our volunteer team. I’m sure they will benefit from the experience just as much as the people they will engage with in the role.

The partnership between Open Support and Kids Giving Back enables us to better serve our community by providing more opportunity for engagement, helping to ensure that no one in need faces hardship alone.
