Open Support aims to make the volunteering experience an enjoyable and enriching one and is committed to the professional training of all our volunteers.
Before, or just after, volunteers commence with us, they are required to attend orientation. Further training takes place on the job, as well as mandatory formal training, from time to time.
Importantly, Open Support offers a wide range of volunteer roles across its various services and operational areas. These include: transportation (e.g. driving, booking services and support), social support/home visits, fundraising, court support, general office administration, accommodation and support, fundraising, media and public relations, retail and shop assistant and marketing and communications.
We also offer additional volunteer roles via our Student Placement Program, Schools Volunteer Program and our Corporate Volunteer Program. For example, Open Support’s Student Placement Program offers university, TAFE, college, business school and other tertiary students placement in our various core service and operational areas.
Student Placement provides those studying for degrees and other tertiary qualifications with direct engagement in hands-on activities in a range of support services and, importantly, the chance to gain relevant skills and experience in a professional setting. Tertiary students are provided with a range of research and learning experiences via opportunities that are supported, challenging and relevant to their studies.
Schools Volunteer and Corporate Volunteer roles are equally rewarding and diverse.
