The Open Support Recovery Model provides comprehensive in-house programs to help women and children heal from trauma and rebuild their lives. Through counselling, education, and therapeutic activities, clients gain confidence, self-reliance, and independence.

We are deeply grateful to two generous donors who have funded the Recovery Program for the full financial year, ensuring uninterrupted support for families in need.

Most clients begin their recovery journey in crisis accommodation, with an average stay of 80 days. Many then transition into private rentals, where our team continues outreach support to help them build stability and resilience. So far this year, 81% of clients are working or studying, and none have returned to their perpetrators – a remarkable achievement.

Elaine* was referred to Open Support through the NSW Domestic Violence Line with her children. Determined to build a new life, she engaged fully in counselling, art therapy, and case management. Within two months, she secured her own private rental and employment. “Thank you so much for all the support. I really appreciate everything you have done for my children and me. The staff are very kind and supported and I felt safe and respected,” Elaine shared.

Recovery from Domestic and Family Violence takes time. It is not just about safe housing, but healing physically, emotionally and mentally. Through our Recovery Program, women learn to recognise red flags like coercive control, empowering them to build healthy, violence-free futures.

Thanks to our supporters, Open Support continues to provide holistic, long-term recovery and healing services. Your generosity is helping women and children find safety, stability, and hope, both now and into the future.
