To mark International Women’s Day on 11 March, St Vincent’s Open Support hosted an event highlighting its domestic and family violence (DFV) programs, guided by the 2026 theme “Balance the Scales.”

Hosted by Eileen Hoggett, Chief Operating Officer at KPMG Australia, the event welcomed more than 100 guests. Eileen spoke about the importance of corporate awareness and practical workplace support for victim-survivors, and the initiatives introduced at KPMG.

Guest speaker Dr Jacqueline Huber, Staff Specialist Psychiatrist and Clinical Lead in Emergency Psychiatry, and KPMG × Chief Executive Women 40th Anniversary Scholarship recipient, shared her clinical perspective on DFV. In her work at St Vincent’s Emergency Department, she sees every day the link between DFV and acute mental health issues.

Rose, a former client, shared her powerful story of recovery through the DFV program. She spoke about arriving at the Cottage, our crisis accommodation service, with her son and the sense of calm and safety she felt. With tailored support, she has since rebuilt her life and found independence for them both.

Supporter John Curtis shared why he and his wife Anna give to St Vincent’s Open Support, reflecting their trust in the team. We are deeply grateful to John and Anna, and to all our supporters.

The event also highlighted the St Vincent’s Open Support Giving Group, helping to sustain these vital services. We warmly invite you to join the Giving Group. Your generosity helps fund safe accommodation and recovery programs for women and children who need it most.

Together, we can make a lasting difference.
