Your legacy will help support women and children fleeing abuse and people suffering from loneliness into the future.

Open Support’s programs embody  ‘Compassion in Action’ by delivering unique and critical services to some of the most vulnerable people in Sydney.  We support women and children fleeing domestic violence, through both short-term crisis accommodation and long-term support services across mental health, accessing legal advice, trauma recovery, child welfare, gaining employment and securing private housing.  We help the socially isolated and lonely, through specific engagement programs that support them to build community connections and thrive.   Open Support creates pathways for people to move from fear and loneliness, to empowerment and independence.  So can you.

By leaving a gift in your will to Open Support, you will play a valued role in providing hope, safety and meaningful connections to people often overlooked during what can be the most difficult timed in their lives.  Planning ahead means you can make a real difference and help ensure our work continues.

  • Ways that you can leave a gift
This is a personal decision for you to make, but we recommend letting your family know that you are planning to leave a gift to Open Support so they are aware of your decision.
  • Whole or part of your estate
You can leave your entire estate or any part of your estate to Open Support.
  • Percentage of your estate
Not sure how much will be in your estate? You can leave us your entire estate or any percentage of your estate you choose. This means that no matter the value of your estate, the percentage you intend for Open Support will remain the same.
  • Specific gift
A specific gift is a specified sum of money, or particular item(s) of property – examples can include a residential house, commercial real estate, shares, artwork or jewellery.
  • Residuary gift
A residuary gift is one where you give a portion of all of that is remaining in your estate – after specific gifts and debts are fulfilled. After you have taken care of loved ones and dependents, you can leave us whole or part of what remains in your estate.

Suggested wording for your Will

To include your chosen gift to Open Support when you write your Will, you can provide your solicitor with the following wording:

“I ………………bequeath to Open Support ABN 95 003 635 498 (insert the percentage or residue of your client’s estate, the amount of money, or the details of assets your client wishes to leave). My bequest is to be used for the general purposes of Open Support. I declare that the receipt of the Secretary or other properly authorized person shall be a complete discharge of my bequest.”

Where your legacy can have the most impact

For Open Support to have the flexibility to apply your gift to create long-lasting change for helping people thrive, our preference is for your gift to be directed to the “general purposes of Open Support”.  This allows for the different needs and challenges clients may face over time and ensures we can adapt our services accordingly.

If you need specific advice on your situation, it can be beneficial to consult a solicitor.
