We all know that mental health is a growing concern in our community – so is social isolation. In fact, the two are very often linked.

We, humans, are social beings that do not fare well when isolated. We need human connection.

One of the best ways to manage anxiety or feelings of loneliness is to stay connected with loved ones and people in the community.

This is what Open Support has offered -this much-needed connection to those who are socially isolated for the past 25 years. We would like you to take part in creating a close-knit community with us by simply crocheting a heart.

We’re asking for you to take five minutes of your time. Five minutes to weave the connection across the community.

Here’s the steps you can take to create a close-knit community:

  1. Crochet as many hearts as you want, in any colour that you want. You can watch this tutorial
  2. Send your hearts to Open Support at 438 Victoria St, Darlinghurst, NSW 2010
  3. Open Support will share your hearts across the community for Christmas
  4. If you’d like, take a photo of you and your crocheted heart and post it on Facebook (don’t forget to tag us @OpenSupportAus).

Please send in your hearts by November 9th so we can connect our community.
